The fading from my laser tattoo treatments has been much slower than expected. At my initial consultation, the doctor estimated 10 treatments to fade my tattoos. As of this publish date, I have undergone 17 treatments over the course of nearly 24 months. As you can see from the tattoo removal pictures below, I have seen little to no progress over the last 4-5 treatments.
I have two ankle tattoos – a celtic knot on the inside of my left ankle, and a kanji symbol on the outside of my right ankle. The doctor mentioned a few treatments back that ankle tattoo removal is sometimes more challenging because it takes the body longer to traffic away all the broken down debris from this area of the body. Think about how far away the ankles are from the heart. Also, there isn’t much in the way of cushioning in this area. Then there’s just the “unique individual” factor – we’re all different.
A note on the progression photo below – I lost some pics between treatments #1 and #5. You can see the entries for those treatment sessions on my old blog: http://inkregret.wordpress.com.
I will post my kanji ankle tattoo progression photos soon!
